The route offers a gentle gradient and plenty of time for acclimatization, enhancing your chances of reaching the summit successfully. The 8-day itinerary allows you to immerse yourself fully in the diverse landscapes of
Kilimanjaro, from lush rainforests to expansive moorlands, and eventually, the barren, icy summit zone.

FULL ITINERARY

Arrival in Moshi

You will be picked up from Kilimanjaro International Airport (KIA) by our tour driver, who will transfer you to a comfortable mid-range hotel in Moshi. Attend a pre-climb briefing where our experienced guides will provide essential information about the trek, ensuring that you are fully prepared and confident for the days ahead. A session
to discuss the details of the climb, check the required gears, and offer clarity where it is needed.

Day 1: Londorossi Gate (2,100m/6,890ft) to Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,820m/9,250ft)

After breakfast, you'll embark on a scenic drive to Londorossi Gate, located on the western side of Kilimanjaro. Following park formalities, your trek begins through the lush rain forest, home to unique wildlife and diverse plant species. The trail is gentle as it winds through the dense forest, offering a serene start to your Kilimanjaro adventure.
Upon arrival at Mti Mkubwa Camp, you’ll settle in and enjoy a hot meal as you prepare for the days ahead.

Day 2: Mti Mkubwa to Shira 1 Camp (3,500m/11,485ft)

On this day, you’ll leave the rainforest behind and enter the moorland zone. This day provides a unique opportunity to acclimatize as you adjust to the higher altitudes. Arriving at Shira 1 Camp, you’ll be greeted by breathtaking vistas of the plateau and Kilimanjaro’s peak. After settling into camp, enjoy a warm meal and rest under the expansive African sky.

Day 3: Shira 1 Camp to Shira 2 Camp (3,850m/12,600ft)

You’ll reach Shira 2 Camp by early afternoon, giving you plenty of time to rest and take in the surroundings. As you relax at camp, the distant peak of Kibo looms large, a reminder of the journey that lies ahead.

Today is a critical day for acclimatization as you trek from Shira 2 Camp to Lava Tower, a towering volcanic rock formation that marks the highest point you’ll reach before descending to Barranco Camp. The ascent to Lava Tower is challenging, with thinning air and a more rugged terrain, but it's essential for acclimatization. After a lunch break at Lava Tower, you’ll descend into the Barranco Valley, where the altitude drops to a more manageable level. Barranco Camp, set in a picturesque valley surrounded by towering cliffs, is one of the most beautiful camps on the mountain.

Day 5: Barranco to Karanga Camp (3,995m/13,106ft)

After conquering the Barranco Wall, you’ll traverse a series of hills and valleys before reaching Karanga Camp. This shorter trekking day is designed to aid acclimatization and ensure that you are well-prepared for the summit attempt.

Today’s trek is a steady climb to Barafu Camp, the final camp before your summit attempt. Barafu Camp is perched on a rocky ridge, offering stunning views of the summit and the surrounding landscape. Upon arrival, you’ll have time to rest, prepare your gear, and mentally prepare for the summit push, which will begin in the early hours of the next day.

After taking in the breathtaking views and capturing the moment with photos, you’ll begin your descent to Mweka Camp. The descent is much quicker, and you’ll be welcomed with a warm meal and the chance to rest after an exhausting but exhilarating day.
